Second Aliya

Second Aliya
The Second Aliya (1904-14) was the most significant in terms of Israel's future political system. Some 40,000 immigrants of Russian and eastern European origin laid the foundations of the labor movement and established the first Jewish labor political parties and kibbutzim. They were secularists who sought to modernize and secularize Jewish life in the Diaspora, and they brought their political ideas, especially socialist ideology, to Palestine, thereby providing the foundations of the future political system.
